So Mike has been in Las Vegas since Friday. Something about a guy's weekend, gambling, Nascar race...my mind shut off after hearing Nascar so I'm not sure about all the details. At any rate, he spent the weekend with some friends in Vegas. And I spent the weekend coming to the realization that it is quite likely I do not have the chutzpah to survive as a single parent.
Over the course of the last two days, the kids and I attended a basketball game, a birthday party, made trips to the library, the park, the grocery store and Target, played countless games of Lego Star Wars on the Wii, had light saber wars in the backyard, Googled "howler monkeys" for a research paper, cleaned the kids bathroom (during which I discovered the fact that my Potty Training Curriculum is missing one critical unit: AIMING), did three loads of laundry, played fetch with the dogs, colored many a page in the Strawberry Shortcake coloring book, and made pancakes for dinner. Twice.
There were also several one-sided conversations with Hayden that went something like this:
I just nod and try not to get beaned by the flying action figures. Did I mention that our trip to Target involved the kids spending their Christmas gift certificates? And do you have any idea how tortuous it can be to spend OVER AN HOUR with an indecisive 8 year-old on the Star Wars aisle?
Needless to say, I am exhausted.
But it's Monday. And somehow, I've survived. That is due, in large part, to several late-night scrapping sessions, many Skype convos with Summer and a bottle (or two??) of Recession White. Rest assured that when Mike gets home this afternoon he'll be apprised of how much we missed him. And I will take a nap.
I'll leave you with a few of the pages from my aforementioned scrapping. Have a fabulous Monday!
