Welcome Back, Summer! (We've missed you!)

Not wanting to let the first official weekend of summer pass by unnoticed, we managed to pack plenty of revelry into the past few days. (Thus my online absence - summer's welcome demanded us to check computers and cell phones at the door!)  We squeezed in a trip to the zoo, many hours at the neighborhood pool, plenty of time in the backyard, meals to Outback and Rock Bottom, and oh yeah the annual running of the Bolder Boulder on Monday morning, of which the only bummer was having to wake up at 4:30 am to get to the starting line on time.  You loyal readers will remember, of course, my conversation with Mike regarding my goal race time.  And while the morning of the race came a bit early and with a bit more Rock Bottom Summer Wheat in my blood than is ideal, I did manage to scrape out a PR of 51:44.  Mike performed rather stellar as well, also turning in a PR time of 54:57.  A not-too-shabby showing by the Dickinson household.

We spent the rest of Monday at the pool with our friends Dave, Alison, Callie and Tex, keeping cool and slyly sipping margarita contraband that we cleverly snuck in disguised as lime-aid. Living on the edge in suburbia.

We wrapped up the weekend with a grill-fest at Dave & Alison's, learning the finer points of charcoal cooking and consuming large quantities of steak, shrimp, and brats.  And beer.  And really expensive wine (thanks, Dave). And the remainder of the margaritas.  Which may have led to the Sprinkler Trampoline and Hula Hoop Olympics that ensued.  Ah, good times.

I hoped your weekend was just as enjoyable.  Summer has arrived.  And if this weekend was any indication, it's gonna be a good one.
