So here we are, on Day Two of Spring Break. And no one's going to be too upset to wake up to chilly temps and a dusting of new snow, because we are planning to spend the latter part of the week on the ski slopes. (can I get a woo hoo?)! Of course, all of this means Mommy needs to tackle her insanely boring list of Adult Responsibilities (containing such riveting tasks as File Taxes, Pay Bills, and Pack Ski Equipment & Clothing) so she can go be a ski-bum for a few days without guilt. Which is why I am, instead, blogging. You following the logic here?
Yeah, so before I get into the To-Do List from Hell, I wanted to pop on and share a few pages with you. Both of them feature one of my very favorite design techniques - the nine square grid. It's such an easy way to pull together a fabulous page, it's become one of my go-to formats. And if you end up not liking your page, just pull off the photos and embellies, and you have a wonderfully chic tic-tac-toe board.
This first page is one of my Elle's Studio layouts for the month and features some awfully sweet photos of my new niece, Ella. I printed them 2" x 2.5", which means all four fit on a standard 4x6 sheet. And since the current balance in my Photo Paper Expense Account is approximately $0.00, reducing paper use is a priority, people! I alternated the photos with the Handmade Layers circle tags, embellished with little bits & bobbles:
Brand New | supplies: patterned paper (Bella Blvd. Couch Potato + Lily Bee Cashmere Sweater + Lily Bee Pearls & Heels) + chipboard (Maya Road heart + butterfly + flower) + letter stickers (American Crafts Thickers + Jenni Bowlin Mini Alpha) + stick pins + button + brad + ribbon + font (Typenoksidi)
And here's another quick page I did just for fun, using the same grid structure:
Wonderful Life | supplies: patterned paper (Lily Bee Cottage Garden + Lily Bee Brooch) + Lily Bee rub ons + Lily Bee chipboard + Martha Stewart butterfly punch + Fiskars border punch + font (Ieicester) + button, twine
I used chipboard pieces + patterned paper squares with my photos on this one, and added a rub-on title.
So the next time you're stuck for a page design (or are just trying to avoid your to-do list with some scrapping procrastination) try the nine-square layout! And have a good Tuesday, alrighty?!
