Hey, hey it's the weekend and I'm back with another layout for Simple Saturday! Today's page is one that I did with my JBS Mercantile October kits (specifically the Papercrafting and Artisan add-on!)
S U P P L I E S :
I started the design by cutting a large doily (which is a free file download if you purchase this month's Papercrafting kit!) from the October Afternoon paper. I added strips cut from the fun OA ticket paper and a notched banner cut from the Webster's Pages yellow paper, adhering them at a slight angle for a bit of whimsy.
The biggest photo (4x6) anchors the left side of the page while the smaller photos fill the yellow banner. The OA Midway alpha stickers create a colorful title that I lined up against my large photo. I chose to add stitching around my focal photo and as a subtle trim on the yellow banner, but you could totally skip this (or just use a white pen for the same effect!)
At this point, I decided my page could use a little bit of white amongst all the bright colors, so I used the JBS Important Stamp (which comes in the Artisan add-on) to stamp an image on white cardstock. A few rhinestone stars dress it up before I tucked it behind my photo. I also added one of the Evalicious tags (exclusively designed for this month's Project kit) below my photos.
The journaling was the easiest part of this page. I simply used one of Hayden's writing assignments from fifth grade. He had written a paragraph about a special person in his life (Grandpa Larry) and I printed his words directly onto my background cardstock. I adhered the original written piece on the back of this finished layout for safekeeping.
To add just a splash more color and finish off the design, I adhered small strips of striped washi tape to the opposing corners of my cardstock that help create a strong visual line through the layout.
So are you creating something simple this weekend? If you do, be sure to share a link with a me! And happy Simple Saturday!
