Today isn't just any ol' Simple Saturday. Oh no. Today happens to be Hayden's 12th birthday! And while I'm denying the fact that it's even possible I have a TWELVE YEAR-OLD (wha?!) today I'm going to honor his birthday by sharing two pages that feature my one-and-only firstborn.
S U P P L I E S:
I created this page for Hayden's tenth birthday and it was featured in the October issue of Scrapbook Trends. The Elle's Studio number tags were an easy way to highlight this milestone birthday, and I set off the number 10 by encircling it with a yellow cardstock ring.
The word "candles" is spelled out in wooden letters, which I rubbed with a red ink pad to help them contrast with the background (and also reflect the red in the photos.)
Next up I have a bold and bright page that was in the September issue of Scrapbook Trends. Since it highlights Hayden's basketball season, I've used patterned paper circles help reinforce my theme and add a sense of motion and action to the layout:
I've added a black die cut overlay on two of the circles - one that mimics a basketball shape and one that's feature the intial "H". The black helps ground the shapes to the page and also ties them to the black and white photos.
A few green and aqua gems add just a touch of sparkle without being too girly.
And now I'm off to celebrate with my boy and convince him that he needs to stop growing up (or at least doing it at such an alarming speed.) Happy Birthday to my sweet Hayden Grey!
