A quick recap on recent events around Casa Dickinson:
Both kiddos ditched the carefree (i.e. unkempt & shaggy) summer hairstyles for new haircuts in preparation for school starting. And now their teachers won't mistake them for homeless vagrants.
At Back to School night, we visited Riely's new classroom, met her teacher, selected her desk, and dropped off school supplies. And then spent the next two days planning an appriopriate First Day of Third Grade outfit.
We spent the last day of summer vacation at the Denver Zoo, where the animals (both the furry and human kind) willingly posed for photos.
We took the requisite First Day photos at our red door and experienced varying degrees of excitement over the start of school. Hayden was anxious to find out his new class schedule, meet his teachers, and get a new locker. Riely was most excited to show off her newest fashion ensemble.
We had an impromptu Friday night kitchen dance party with the neighbors, due in large part to (a) tunes by Robin Thicke, and (b) margaritas by Ryan McGee.
This guy spent a weekend at the emergency vet clinic after unsuccessfully trying to eat one of his doggy toys and having surgery to remove plastic pieces of said toy. He's feeling much better, if not a bit guilty for depleting the kids' college fund with his hospital stay.
And amidst all the activity in the past few weeks, we've found a few quiet moments breathe deeply, count our blessings and settle into this new fall routine.
