Hope all you mamas out there had a wonderful Mother's Day weekend and got spoiled like you deserve! While we were celebrating, the Elle's Studio kits for the month went on sale and they are perfect to get you in the mood for sunny days, cold lemonade and all things summer! Here are the two layouts I created:
S U P P L I E S :
You'll recognize that photo from last Friday's post...one of my faves from our Mexico trip! The sunburst paper from the Shine Collection was a perfect backdrop , to which I added rows of yellow stamping using the small "sunshine" word stamp from this month's set.
I balanced out the photo with a grouping of colorful tags on the left, all which play off the theme of the photo and page. (I told you this kit was perfect for warm weather scrapping!)
My second page started with one of the die cuts from this month's set - a diamond border with a hand-drawn look. I cut nine borders out of white cardstock but before removing them from the Silhouette mat, I painted them with gray paint. I watered down the paint just a bit on each border so they got gradually lighter, making an ombre effect.
I arranged the borders with the darkest on the left and lightest on the right and then built my design atop them. It's a very rough 4-square grid with two photos and two 3x4 journal cards, though the varying sizes and overlapping make the grid less than symmetrical.
The kite (which was cut from a journaling card) also plays with the symmetry, but I kinda like an off-kilter grid every now and then. And I makes me want to go outside and fly a kite, too. Can I do that without my kids and not look like a total wacko??
Hope you all are having a wonderful (and maybe a little wacky) week!
