Happy Friday! We are gearing up for a big weekend of summer firsts around here! Tonight Riely is performing in the first of two theater productions as the lead in Annie. She says she's not nervous at all and can't wait to don the red wig and dress and dazzle us all. Of course, mama's anxiety is enough for both of us - I have no idea where this kid got the desire to be on stage because my stomach has been doing flip flops all week just thinking about it.
Then bright and early on Saturday, both kiddos will be swimming in the first meet of the season (Go Riptide!) We've also got a cast party and neighborhood block party to fit in there, and of course we'll wrap up the weekend with Father's Day on Sunday. Should be a crazy full weekend, indeed!
And if you're looking for something fun to do this weekend, then go download the latest issue of Scrapbook & Cards Today which goes live today.** I just got my copy this week and it's packed with all the bright, sunny summer inspiration you could ever want. (And it makes a great beach or poolside read, too!) To give you a little peek inside, here's one of my pages from the issue!
S U P P L I E S :
I did a little experimenting with the titlework on this one and unlike many of my "experiments" this one didn't end up in the garbage can! First I die cut the lettering for "FIELD" and "DAY. " I set aside the word "day" and lightly adhered the word "field" to a white cardstock circle. Then I used the new Dylusions Spray Ink Pad and applied yellow mist to one half and turquoise mist to the other (where they overlapped it made green). Then I pressed the pad onto white cardstock several times. Once it was dry, I removed the die cut letters and traced around the edges with a black pen.
The rest of the layout is fairly simple - photos, a journal block, and chipboard embellies with baker's twine accents. But with all the bright colors and variety of textures, I didn't need much more. I love the vibrant pops of this page and how it perfectly captures the energy of an elementary school field day!
And speaking of energy, I'm going to go expel some and do one more run through of "Tomorrow" with my girl. I'll be back next week with photos and what I'm sure will be rave reviews!
Wishing you all wonderful weekend!
**The issue drops at 10 am EST, so if you're an early bird and clicking the link prior to that time, it won't up yet.
