I was so sad to get the news that BasicGrey will no longer be producing their amazing scrapbook lines. For the past few years, I've been lucky enough to be on their design team and regularly create with their products, but even before that, I was a big BG fan. I remember seeking out their papers after receiving them in a Scrapologie kit (I'm pretty sure it was the Urban Couture collection) and have been hooked ever since. It was their papers that made me fall in love with pattern mixing and really helped me begin to curate my own signature style.
In honor of BasicGrey and all their amazing contributions to our craft, I wanted to post a page today that I created using the Vivienne line. It's a page that feels definitively like me - something I can say about most of the BG pages I create.
S U P P L I E S :
I will always adore their collections for the funky mix of patterns, colors and textures. Left to my own choices, I probably never would have attempted to incorporate all these colors into a single design. Yet their papers are always a perfect balancing act, combining large & small scales, busy and simple patterns, and an endless arrangement of color combos, so it makes creating easy.
And of course the embellishments are always my favorites! The wide range of shapes, sizes and materials always assured you'd have the perfect finishing touches. On this page, I added some simple stitching to the background and layered stickers, chipboard, transparencies, and veneer on top. I love that the final look is coordinated, but that each little rectangle has its own identity.
I know my albums are full of favorite BG pages (and with the three newest releases - Hillside, Saturday Morning and Urban Luxe - I'll be adding a few more!) but I will miss creating with the always innovative releases. Their disappearance will leave a big hole not only in my scrap stash, but in the industry as a whole. I'm so grateful to Rachel and Greg for letting me be a part of this adventure and for all the amazing products that help my style evolve and grow into what it is today. Thanks for the countless memories you've helped me document and even more, for helping me become me! You'll be deeply missed, BasicGrey!
