Wednesday is our usual day for the weekly trip to the library. The kids get to pick out new books and DVDs and play with computer games and puppets while I furiously see how much of the current issue of People I can read in 30 minutes. Because we all know the spiritual awakenings and mind-expanding capacities that periodical holds.
At any rate, as we were preparing to leave for the library, the bickering started and soon elevated to screeching hyena level. And in my hormonally-induced state, I was in no way prepared to deal with zoo animals. So I issued the ultimatum: Either cease and desist or there shall be no excursion to the Great Book Place. It should come as no surprise that my request was ignored. So in a stoic move, I actually backed up my threat and made them stay home. I'm sure they both spent the evening in a bewildered state, reeling from their newly acquired knowledge: Wow! Sometimes Mom really means those things she yells at us! Who knew?!?
We did make our weekly visit on Thursday, however, and now that we are back, I am blessed with a few tranquil moments while the kids read their new books on the couch. This scene inevitably has about a 15-minute life span before it will break out in a WWF-worthy brawl...so I'll type quickly.
Wanted to share my pages that are in the May/June issue of Simple. I got to use some of the new grungeboard from Tim Holtz and I have to admit, it's a pretty cool product. I love that it is soft and pliable, and unlike chipboard, it doesn't pop off when your page bends. {The large ampersand and the word AND are the grungeboard pieces on this page}
A theme throughout this month's issue is Using Your Scraps, and I was challenged to use as many paper scraps as possible on this page:
It put a pretty nice dent in my scrap pile, and yes Martha, that's always a good thing.
Well it sounds like wrestling match is about to begin. Better go referee. Have a good weekend!
