I think it's fairly obvious from my last post that I have a weakness for decor items with a history. Mike worries our house will eventually look like a Hoarder's version of an antique store, because I have a hard time passing up anything with peeling paint or rusty hardware. I love imagining that the things in our home have stories of their own, witnesses to scenes that came long before we were ever here. Yes, they are old and weathered, but to me, the scratches, worn spots and patina are so much more charming than sleek, modern and new. These are the pieces that make our home cozy, warm and inviting...they are what makes it feel like home.
It's for that same reason that I love collecting pieces of vintage ephemera to include in my scrapbooks (and the monthly Jenni Bowlin kits provide me with plenty of these lovelies every month!). The old receipts, tickets, labels and papers are such a cool (and beautiful!) link to history. But right now my "vintage bin" is teeming with bits and pieces and needs to be shared. So today I've got a random collection of oldies but goodies to give away:
There's old sheet music, reciepts, labels, and tags....milk caps and coasters...tickets and game pieces....gold foil accents and antique valentines.
If you'd like to win this collection of goodies, just leave me a comment below telling me your favorite vintage item in your home. ** I'll draw a name on Monday to receive the package
And if you need some ideas for how to use vintage ephemera on your scrapbook pages, be sure to check out this free webinar from Debbie Hodge at Get It Scrapped on Monday, Nov. 7. It's limited 500 registrants (so hurry!) and like all Debbie's offerings, it's going to be packed with ideas, information, and most importantly - inspiration!
**Please be sure to leave a contact email in your comment if you are not signed in to Typepad. Comments will remain open until Monday morning, November 7 whenever I manage get my lazy butt out of bed, grab a cup of coffee, and randomly select a winner from the comments. I'll post the winner here and contact them via email (if possible). Internationals are welcome to enter, but you'll have to pay postage. And that concludes the fine print. :)
UPDATED WITH WINNER! Thanks to everyone who stopped by and shared their vintage finds! I loved reading about your treasures. The winner of the ephemera package is Cathy:
Cathy, shoot me an email and I'll get your goodies out to you!
