Happy Thanksgiving Eve! I should preface this post by saying that today, I am elbow-deep in mashed potato, stuffing and sweet tater prep and my wardrobe is anything but web-worthy. I would love to say I am all dolled up June Cleaver-style with a matching dress and apron, hair perfectly coifed while I cheerily prepare the Thanskgiving feast, but um, no. Last week, however, I did manage to pull a suitable outfit together and I'll share that with you today!
I snagged this dress on Zulily early last summer and paired with flip flops, it became one of my favorite summer outfits. I wasn't quite ready to say goodbye to it for the season, so I wanted to see if I could "winterize" it for cooler weather. By adding some polkie tights, my favorite boots, and a red cardi, I think I can stretch this dress into the fall season!
The flower embellishments on this dress (it has one; I added the other two) remind me of a giant Homecoming mum corsage. And since Homecoming usually occurs in the fall, that means I can wear the dress now, right? Would adding a homecoming queen tiara be too much??
Well hey there Homecoming Queen! My corsage is bigger than yours!
I love how layering makes it possible to transition favorite pieces from season to season. It's definitely something I need to try more often. And speaking of trying new things, I'm off to tackle a new stuffing recipe for tomorrow's dinner!

On a completely unrelated note, tonight on CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley my adorable hubby will be appearing in a story about Colorado's growing oil production. Since we don't have a dvr, we'll be glued to the sofa around 5:30 in anticipation of his television debut. So excited and proud of my boy - watch if you can!
