Living in Colorado means there's one accessory you can never have too many of: scarves! (Ok, my husband might beg to differ on that point, but he also says I have too many shoes, too many hair products, and too many scrap supplies....so what does he know?!?)
For me, the key to keeping warm during the Colorado winters is a soft, cozy scarf. It's the wardrobe equivalent of wrapping your hands around a piping hot mug of tea - instant comfort! And one of my favorite (and most-used) scarves is a striped cotton one that my friend Alison gave me a few years back.
The multi-colored stripes mean it coordinates easily with almost any top. Here I paired it with a shell pink crocheted tee and a motorcycle jacket for a leather-and-lace vibe. (Though admittedly, this trendy little Target jacket is not real leather. I wanted to see how many times I would actually wear a motorcycle jacket before committing the cash to the the real thing. And - bonus! it keeps the vegans from sending me nasty emails.)
I like how the jacket and scarf dress up what is basically my everyday uniform of jeans-and-tees. And I'm almost as cozy and comfortable as I would be in flannel pjs. Almost.
And with a little bit of snow on the ground (finally!) and highs in the 40s the rest of the week, my scarf stash is definitely getting moved to the front of the closet. Right next to my flannel pjs.
