I've been a bit obsessed with all things plaid this winter. From scarves to skirts, I've added the preppy pattern into my wardrobe liberally this season. But I was having a heck of a time finding shirts with good coverage - meaning long enough to cover possible muffin top appearances and my entire arm. Quite often, getting the extra length meant sizing up and getting a tent-like shirt that was just big everywhere.
Then while folding laundry one day, I realized that a nice fitting shirt was really only as far away as my son's closet. I've been buying Hayden mens XS shirts because while he's not really out of boys sizes, he almost always needs extra length. And it just so happens that those shirts (especially the slim or athletic cuts) are perfect for me, too.
They tend to run longer in the sleeves and tails than women's shirts - booyah! And the slim-cut versions aren't too bulky through the torso, making them perfect layering pieces. I popped a cozy sweater over this one and added a good dose of girly with a rhinestone statement necklace.
So occasionally, Hayden will be missing a few plaid shirts from his closet. But I figure that's the price you pay when mama does your laundry.
