After a few years of doing Wardrobe Wednesday posts, I'm beginning to realize that I'm totally predictable when it comes to winter fashion. Throw together stripes, plaid and boots in various combos and you've pretty much got my daily uniform. Riely insists that I've never passed up purchasing a striped shirt (and my closet will attest to that fact!) but in my world, stripes are a neutral and that means you can never have too many. And honestly? I'm old and forget what I actually own when I'm not standing directly in front of it. At any rate, with my collections of striped shirts and plaid scarves, expect to see lots of variations on the above theme over the next few months.
Another thing I'm currently stock piling? Old Navy skinny jeans. Specifically, the Midrise Rockstar - or as I like to call them, the Middle-Aged Rockstar - because the slightly higher rise helps prevent any unauthorized showings of 40-something butt crack. While I do not enthusiastically admit to reaching middle-age, I do have to concede that covering up middle age butt crack is something everyone appreciates.
I really love the fit of these jeans because they are true skinnies and work so well tucked into my favorite Frye boots. If you want to grab a pair for yourself, they happen to be 40% off right now (use the code RUSH at checkout!) The only issue is that sizing is definitely not consistent across the washes - I have three pairs, all tagged different sizes, yet they all fit me the same. But that's one good thing about middle age - you don't get too caught up in numbers anymore. (Or do you just forget them?)
