Wild Fable Cardigan + Gap Flannel Shirt + Old Navy Ankle Flares + Madewell Oxfords
When it comes to pattern, plaid is my favorite. It's intrinsically cozy and pairs perfectly with hayrides, hot cocoa and the holidays. And who doesn't want a life filled with hayrides, hot cocoa and holidays? There's no better way to take your wardrobe into the cold-weather season than with a few festive plaid pieces. So when I get the chance to mix more than one plaid into an outfit, you can bet I jump all over it!
Buffalo plaid works especially well for this, since the black and white version is essentially a neutral that can play nicely with other patterns. I layered this cute cardigan over my tried-and-true red buffalo plaid flannel, and because the patterns are significantly different sizes, they create a coordinated look without overwhelming the outfit with pattern. A classic Christmas plaid, subtle Glen plaid, or preppy Tartan plaid would all also look amazing under this sweater (and you probably already have one in your closet!)
If you're not convinced plaid-on-plaid is your thing, you could easily layer the sweater with a striped tee or a lace cami for an equally sweet seasonal ensemble. But be sure to accessorize with a steaming hot beverage (and there's your bonafide excuse for a Starbucks run. You're welcome.)
