Hollister Field Jacket + Free People Shirt + Old Navy Mid-Rise Super Skinny Jeans
+ Matisse Butch Booties
It's a jacket that goes by many names - field, cargo, utility - but this military-inspired piece of outwear is perfect for transitional fall days that are cold enough to require a coat, but warm enough to make you sweat if you wear anything heavier! I found this one a few years back at Hollister and while I knew the neutral olive would be versatile enough to wear with everything, I really bought it for the sparkly embellished cuffs. (I'm also easily distracted by bright lights, flashy cars and anything chocolate.)
So while it's fairly easy to find a staple field jacket to get you through fall (and spring) weather, I love the jackets that have a little extra detail to take them beyond basic. Whether that's shiny bling like mine, or embroidered details, or just a fun color or pattern, utility jackets don't have to be just utiliarian. Here's a few of my favorites that are truly outstanding in their field (jacket!)
1// Alpha Industries Fusion Field Coat ($70) Contrast sleeves and aviation-inspired details give earn this jacket Top Gun accolades. It comes in all black too!
2// Floral Embroidered Field Jacket ($21) Classic fatigue green gets a girly touch with embroidered flower patches. Perfect for tiptoeing through the tulips!
3// Leopard Mixed Media Utility Coat ($42) Proving leopard goes with anything, this jacket with sweatshirt sleeves is the cat's meow!
4// Hooded Drawstring Utility Jacket ($28) An unexpected color takes this jacket beyond utilitarian. Additional colors include black and mustard!
5// Fur Hooded Zipper Coat ($44) This fresh mint number (that also comes in blue, pink, olive & mustard) in lined in fleece, so it's perfect for winter wonderland romping!
6// Camo Print Utility Jacket ($40) Camouflage print was designed to blend in, but you'll definitely stand out in this military-inspired print!
So which one is your favorite? I'm loving the pink! I have a similar one from Old Navy that I'm excited to style for expeditions in the field (which my fancy way of saying CARPOOL.) Happy Thursday!
