The season of shorts is upon us and for me that means it's time to get my tan on! While I'd love to spend a few hours every day lounging by the community pool to get a golden bronze, my schedule (and dermatologist!) won't allow it, so it's self-tanner to the rescue. Here's my five favorite products to get my skin prepped and glowing for a summer tan!
//Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula ($4.94) I starting using Palmer's products when I was pregnant (which was approximately a billion eons ago) but I quickly realized their skincare is great for more than just stretch marks! This cocoa butter formulas has become my favorite body lotion that I use each and every day. Supple, hydrated skin will always tan better, and this rich formula (that also happen to smell divine) gets my winter skin ready for summer.
//I Don't Want Tan on My Hands Mitt ($5.97) The most essential tool for self-tanning is a good mitt (believe me I've tried to tan without one and ended up with all the odd orange stains you'd expect). This mitt is cheap, easy to clean - just toss it in the washing machine - and doesn't absorb all the product like other mitts I've tried.
//Isle of Paradise HYGLO Tanning Serum Kit ($44.00) This combo set of face & body serum is great to mix with your daily lotion, just add a few drops and it helps maintain color while adding beneficial hyaluronic acid to your skin. The color result isn't super dark (I prefer the shade of Tancueticals below) but it does help lengthen and maintain the color of other products. Plus, it's the only face tanner I'll use because it doesn't cause me to break out!
//Tree Hut Shea Sugar Scrub ($6.48) It's critical to exfoliate prior to self-tanning and this delicious scrub is one of the best! It's loaded with natural oils and I don't find the grit to be too irritating. I love the Frosted Sugar Cookie scent and the Tahitian Vanilla Bean is a close second!
//Tancueticals Dark Tanning Mousse ($29.95) I'm a self-proclaimed self-tanner junkie and I will (and have!) tried just about every one on the market. This one is by far the best of the best for two reasons - the mousse formula is easy to apply, dries quickly, and doesn't transfer to clothes, and MOST IMPORTANTLY - it doesn't have that tell-tale tanner smell that has been the bane of self tanners forever. My skin (and nose!) love this stuff!
