Five on Friday | Amazon Long Cardigans

Maybe it's because I'm a Colorado girl, but I'm a total sucker for cozy, warm knits. Once Halloween has passed, I'm all about the sweaters (though Mother Nature doesn't always cooperate with my weather timeline). And if the sweaters are long, soft and easy to layer? Well, I probably have them stashed in my winter closet! Here's five of my tried-and-true faves from Amazon that ship fast and won't break your budget!

 

1//Chunky Knit Stripe Cardigan ($39.99) I can't resist a good colorblock knit (though this one comes in numerous solids as well!) and the mustard/pink/ivory combo is so good from fall to spring! This one is fairly lightweight with batwing sleeves and adds effortless chic to a tee & leggings.

2//Star Print Cardigan ($35.99)  If it's adorned with stars, I'm gonna buy it - guaranteed! This duster is light enough for warmer climates and perfect for layering - I love it with a striped top, a band tee, or a sleek black turtleneck. It also comes in 7 other colour ways, so you're sure to find a fave!

3//Open Front Leopard Cardigan ($43.99)  Next to stripes, the most common pattern in my closet is leopard! I love this modern take on the print in a brown and pink combo (but it's also available in 30 other patterns and colors!) Planning to layer it over a pink tank dress or a band tee and jeans!

4//Buffalo Plaid Duster ($29.59) I will never give up the buffalo plaid trend - it's such a great (neutral!) pattern that plays well with so many other colors and prints! This lightweight and super soft duster is a versatile layering piece, and comes in so many others patterns and solids (if you're not a plaid fanatic like me). I'm eyeing the camo print as my next addition...

5//Cableknit Cardigan ($39.99) Nothing beats a textural knit and this one delivers with a gorgeous cable knit, oversized buttons and POCKETS! I love the brick red for all the winter.holiday 'fits, but there's so many color options, you're bound to find your fave!

Boxy Cardigan | 4 ways

Living in Colorado means having plenty of sweaters for winter months, and cardigans are one of my favorite styles of knits for cold weather. This year's trendy silhouette of a boxy, slightly cropped boyfriend cardigan is not only comfortable, it's also super versatile for both casual and dressy wear.  This striped version is a fun (but easy to mix!) pattern and it happens to be available for purchase in my shop! These days most of us aren't dressing for an office environment so a blazer probably isn't at the top of anyone's wardrobe must-haves right now. But I happen to love (and from the looks of my closet, avidly COLLECT) blazers and they way they can make me instantly feel more put together! I almost always wear them with jeans and style them more casual than corporate, so thought I'd share four simple ways you can dress down a blazer. (This particular plaid jacket from Target sold out crazy fast, but I'm linking two others that are very similar and equally versatile!)

You can't really go wrong with a basic black skirt - it's seriously a blank canvas for any outfit you could dream up! From casual to dressy, it's a closet staple that can do it all. I especially love a trumpet shape as it's flattering on all body types because it accentuates the waist while adding a fun flirty touch with a flared hem. Jersey Dress | 4 Ways

With a wardrobe that largely consists of jeans + casual tops, I love the variety a basic dress can add to my closet. And unlike jeans, a soft, stretchy dress will never refuse to button after a weekend of dietary indulges, so there's that. This deep teal jersey dress from Lou & Grey is as comfortable as the lounge wear the brand is famous for, but with a bit more polish (and it's available in my Wardrobe Wednesday shop). Seeing all these cute options makes me want to keep the dress! It is undeniably versatile and the fact that it doesn't remind me that I ate way too many donuts this weekend pretty much makes it my new best friend. 

Bike Shorts | 4 Ways

To be honest, I was not sold on the bike short trend when it first came onto the fashion scene. I've owned these shorts years ago when I wore them with a high-cut leotard to step aerobics. The thought of reintroducing them to my wardrobe brought back not-so-fond memories of stumbling through choreography my clumsy self would never master and more than a few mis-steps that resulted in my well-deserved reputation as the Elaine Benes of step class.

But embarrassing memories aside, once I actually convinced myself that I would wear these shorts outside of an exercise class, I was hooked. After all, they are really just the warm-weather version of leggings, right? So I challenged myself to style them much like I would black tights, and here's what I came up with!

The kimono has become a summer staple for me in the past few years and my collection of these colorful, flowy items is definitely growing! I love how they elevate a simple tank and shorts, do-double duty as a swim cover up, and can even transition into fall with leggings and boots. Bermuda Shorts | 4 Ways

Bermuda shorts have been around as a military wear since the second world war, so it's safe to say it's a style that has lasting power! Nowadays, these shorts are popular for their  longer length and more tailored fit than typical denim cut-offs. They can totally go from weekend gathering to casual workplace with flair! The pair I'm styling today are heavily distressed and broken-in denim, so they definitely have more casual vibe, but these concepts would work with more traditional chino or dark denim Bermudas just as well!

Despite my clumsy tendencies that cause me to spill things on my clothing quite regularly, I love a crisp white jean for the summer months. (I just have to keep a regular stash of Tide Pens on hand and opt for white wine over red!) White denim is such a fresh seasonal alternative to blue but it has the same versatility to mix and match with so many patterns and colors.  Here's a few of my favorite looks with white jeans!
